Product Description
This kit provides materials for 8 groups to simulate conditions associated with sulfur oxide and nitrogen oxide pollution and observe effects on radish seed germination. Students connect sulfur- and nitrogen-containing reactants with acid-deposition concepts and measured pH conditions to examine how atmospheric pollutants can affect biological systems.
The kit includes sodium sulfite, sulfuric acid, concentrated nitric acid, copper wire pieces, radish seeds, pH strips, petri dishes, reactant reservoirs, filter paper, cotton balls, pipettes, forceps, and hand magnifiers. A Teacher's Manual and Study Guide copymaster support setup, observation, pH comparison, and interpretation.
