## Product Description

This kit provides materials for 8 groups to compare decomposition in a sanitary landfill model and an open-air dump environment. Students observe how oxygen availability changes decomposition conditions and connect the results to solid-waste management practices.

The kit includes soil, plastic cups, jars with lids, cotton fabric, starch packing peanuts, paper squares, straws, and aluminum squares to build the contrasting waste environments. A Teacher's Manual and Study Guide copymaster support setup, observation, comparison, and discussion.
